1½ ATR Long Vapor Cycle Cooled ATX Chassis

Macrolink’s ML-1500TL Series Polar Bear is a convection-cooled ATX 2.1 form factor computer enclosure. This robust chassis is designed for avionics and ground vehicle applications. The structure is capable of withstanding extreme environmental conditions of altitude, temperature, humidity, shock, vibration, EMI, and chemical exposure.

  • A blend of machined, formed, and extruded components impart an exceptional degree of structural integrity, while significantly reducing the number of mechanical fasteners for increased reliability and ease of access to Field Replaceable Units. System boards and peripherals are easily accessed through the removable top cover. Covers contain captive hardware and metal braided EMI gaskets. All internal and external surfaces are coated with an exterior epoxy finish providing maximum protection against corrosion. All materials and finishes are fungus resistant.

  • The integral front panel accommodates MIL style M38999 connectors along with high-density COTS components and is customized to meet each application’s requirements. Internal cables connect the front panel to the motherboard’s back panel I/O connectors, and the expansion slot board I/O connectors.

  • A closed-loop, vapor phase refrigeration system provides an isolated environment that cools the equipment payload to sub-ambient temperatures. Sophisticated thermal management using active cooling and heaters extends the system’s operating range to environments reaching -20ºC and cools the internal components over 15ºC lower than the external ambient. COTS temperature range components, like microprocessors, can be reliably deployed into extreme environments that exceed the manufacturer’s rated temperature limits.Polar_Bear_3D_350
